Getting Older and Old Assholes
December 16, 2007 - 7:40 am
Two things are on the increase for me as I approach 40 on February 6, 2008: pills and ear hairs. The number of supplements I take in the morning have increased recently for me. And those nasty white ear hairs that grow to half an inch over night need checking on almost daily.
Now to the old asshole bit. Last night my mother drove in from Joseph, so Jenna, Mom and I proceeded to the Marcus Whitman for some nice dinner. While we were there we overheard a “going-deaf” and loud old man complaining about the establishment. He was there with his wife and a few minutes later two other pairs of older couples arrived and they switched tables, giving me a better vantage point. He continued to be loud and obnoxious while the rest of his party was quite quiet. Our meals ended at about the same time, while he was complaining about the 18% gratuity on his $6 bill. I am not sure how his bill came to $6 at the Marc, but the waitress who we were empathizing with, told us. The manager of the restaurant talked to him twice, and left shaking his head in frustration twice as well.
So, as we were leaving I overheard him saying something about “WHAT’s WRONG is…” as we approached the table. I stopped at him and with 3/4 of a strong martini in me, said “What is wrong is that you’re a rude asshole jerk!”. Immediately followed by my mother telling him that he was unbelievably rude and inconsiderate to others (more tactful than me, of course). He was pretty much speechless.
Oh well, the food and service was awesome though.
